The undulating, picturesque, fertile, and productive countryside that surrounds the City of Orange is CABONNE COUNTRY, the Food Basket of Australia. It is within the Cabonne Shire that most of the wonderful foodstuffs are produced, including grains, meat, fruit and wine. The forthcoming ESSENTIAL ENERGY CABONNE COUNTRYWIDE village celebrations will take place on the weekend of the 17th and 18th March. It’s an open invitation to everyone to get out and travel through the villages of Cabonne Shire and explore the many farms, cellar doors, museums, coffee shops, restaurants and the wide variety of special places of interest. Every village will be open for business with so many putting on a special event for the weekend. The world famous Age of Fishes Museum in Canowindra, winner of so many local and state awards, has a display of the earth and its marine life 360 million years ago. It’s a place where you can wander freely and touch the fossilized fish as they were all those years ago.
Get out into Cabonne Country over this exciting weekend so much to see and do over the whole weekend every business, every village and every special attraction is open for business. View the What’s on page for details of each village.
A few of the special not to be missed attractions on the Saturday are the monthly Community Markets in Cumnock on the Saturday morning and a good old fashioned Aussie Country Show with animals, pavilion exhibits, woodchopping and lots of activities and games for the kids. Visit www.cumnockshow.com.au for full details.
