Buckinbah Park

The Poets walk, which travels along Buckinbah Creek from the Banjo Paterson Bush Park to the ruins of the original Paterson Homestead on ‘Buckinbah’ station, is a distance of just over 1km. The picturesque creek has been planted on the high ground with ‘Sheoak’ trees, which are awaiting  sponsors of only $135 each (See sponsors page) Seats and Sculptures along the walk are now in the  pipe line. It is well worth the walk.

Poets Walk

Andrew Barton Paterson, who was to be known as “Banjo” the great Australian Poet and Storyteller, was born on the 17th February 1864 at ‘Narrambla’ on the Ophir Road out from Orange. This was the home of Mrs Rose Templer, the local midwife and aunt of Banjo’s Mother, Rose Isabella. This is where Rose spent most of her confinement as husband Andrew Barton was travelling between the family Queensland property ‘Stainbourne Downs’ and ‘Buckinbah’ and he feared for his wife’s safety
