COBB & CO COACH HOUSE C.1875
This building was the coach house for the “New Royal Hotel” which stood on the Village Green in Molong in 1875. This Cobb & Co Hotel was destroyed by fire in the 1940’s, leaving only the beautifully restored Coach House and three original local stone walls of the horse stables.
The Coach House houses the magnificent freestanding embroidered screen comprising four sections, each depicting 50 years of European settlement in the Molong district This screen was awarded a silver medallion by the Bi-Centennial Committee for the part it played in the 1988 Bi-Centennial year.
The Coach House is available for coach tours with a narration on the screen, devonshire teas and light basket lunches can be served – bookings are essential. Visitors are welcome and the screen can be viewed by individuals as they visit our town any day.
The building is an ideal place to launch a book, have an art exhibition, a small wedding party, and charity functions – all inquiries to be made to the Cottage on 6366 8260.
Spinning and weaving days are held on a regular basis, usually the third Saturday in the month – for further particulars please ring the Cottage.
